Former Penguin Harbaruk dies at 67

Former NHL player Nick Harbaruk has died at 67.

The York Cemetery Chapel and Reception Centre says Tuesday he died of cancer March 10 at Scarborough General Hospital in suburban Toronto.

Harbaruk was a defensive right wing who spent five seasons in the NHL. He languished in the Maple Leafs' farm system in Tulsa, Okla. for five seasons before getting a break in the post-expansion era.

He played four seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins and one with the St. Louis Blues. He then joined the WHA, spending 2 1/2 seasons with the Indianapolis Racers.

Harbaruk was born in Poland and came to Canada at age 5. He also played in the minors with Vancouver, Oklahoma City and Rochester.

His funeral is Wednesday in Toronto.
