Former agent blasts Canadiens' Galchenyuk

It's usually a good idea to take a Hockey Hall of Famer's advice, but it seems young Alex Galchenyuk was not buying what former agent and Hockey Hall of Famer Igor Larionov had to say. Galchenyuk recently fired Larionov, and it does not seem like the split was amicable.

"Ian [Pulver] and I were trying to help [Galchenyuk] to become a good hockey player but, more importantly, to be a good human being,” Larionov told the media. “I would speak to him every day; I think I spent more time talking to him than talking to my wife."

But according to Larionov, Galchenyuk was not a good listener and was unhappy with his ice time while playing for coach Michel Therrien and the Canadiens.

"I tried to make him understand that he has to be patient,” Larionov said to reporters. “I had to wait when I was a young player; every great player has a time when he’s going to be on the bench, but you have to learn that’s part of the game."

The 21-year-old Galchenyuk was the third overall pick in the 2012 NHL Draft and just finished the final year of his entry-level contract with the Canadiens. He should see a pay raise after scoring 46 points in 80 games this season, but the Canadiens do not have a ton of cap space to give him a hefty salary increase. Negotiations with Galchenyuk are on hold until the young center finds a new agent.
