Flyers' Carter has foot surgery

Published Mar. 25, 2010 1:00 a.m. ET

Flyers leading scorer Jeff Carter is having surgery on his broken left foot and hopes to be back in time for the playoffs.

Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren says Carter will have a screw placed in the foot on Friday.

The center is expected to miss three or four weeks.

The Flyers were hanging on to the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference going into Thursday night's game against the Minnesota Wild.

Carter leads the Flyers in goals (33) and points (60). He had played in 286 consecutive games before injuring the foot Sunday night.
