Detroit Red Wings vs Calgary Flames 2016: Live Stream, TV Info & Game Odds
The Detroit Red Wings will face the Calgary Flames tonight from Joe Louis Arena.
The Detroit Red Wings and Calgary Flames have not started on the right foot so far in 2016, however, a win for either team tonight would be a welcomed relief for both squads. The Flames have been the second worst team in the NHL over the last 10 games, unfortunately for the Red Wings they are ahead of Calgary in that dubious honor.
While the Flames are 3-7 in their last seven contests, the Red Wings, losers of three straight, are 2-7-1 in their last 10 overall.
The Red Wings (8-9-1) have payed well the last three games, despite every match-up ending in defeat. They lost 1-0 to the Capitals in Washington on Friday night, and 4-3 to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the game prior. The frustrating thing is that they played well enough to win both of those games.
On the other hand the Flames (7-11-1) lost 3-2 in their last game to the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night.
It is still early in the campaign, however, we are just over a month away from the halfway point of the season and the ups and down have become frustrating for the Red Wings as captain Henrik Zetterberg explained.
“I think it’s only human to get a little frustrated,” Red Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg told www.mlive.com. “I think it’s easy to get frustrated when you’re doing good things, when you correct mistakes, you’re playing better and you don’t get points. But we’ve got to see the positive in it, too, and stay with it. Eventually we will get our wins.”
The good news for the Red Wings heading into tonight’s game is the return of left winger Thomas Vanek, who has missed the past 11 games with a hip strain.
Vanek was was a spark plug for the Wings before he was injured. He led the team with four goals and eight points in the first seven games of the season. Detroit is hoping he can pick up where he left off before he missed the last two weeks of action.
The Red Wings are listed as the favorites at -145, with the over/under goal total set at 5.
Tonight’s game will air nationally on the NHL Network and locally on FOX Sports Detroit starting at 7:30 p.m. ET. Fans can also catch the action streaming live through the FOX Sports Go app.
