David Pastrnak sent to AHL following World Junior Championship
Boston Bruins forward David Pastrnak was assigned to the AHL Providence Bruins after returning from Finland for the World Junior Championship tournament, the Bruins announced Monday. Pastrnak has not played at the NHL level since Oct. 31 after suffering a broken foot.
The team announced on Dec. 26 that Pastrnak was fully healthy and would join the Czech National Team for the World Junior Championship instead of immediately returning to the Bruins' lineup. The trip, the Bruins said, could be a way for Pastrnak to build up his confidence.
Via the Boston Bruins:
"We think that based on last year, his experience there in the tournament, the confidence that he had, that he’ll come back to the full level that he really had gotten to last year, impacting our lineup," said Bruins GM Don Sweeney.
Pastrnak recorded one goal and three assists in four games at the tournament for the Czech Republic. He reportedly suffered a minor injury while there, but his assignment to Providence shows the injury is not serious enough to keep Pastrnak out of games at this time.
Pastrnak has four points (two goals, two assists) in 10 games so far this season with the Bruins.
