DA: No criminal charges for fight in hockey game

The Larimer County district attorney's office has decided against filing criminal charges for altercations in a minor league hockey game in northern Colorado that left one player with a broken nose and jaw.

Prosecutors announced the decision Friday after meeting during the week with sheriff's investigators.

The Odessa Jackalopes of Odessa, Texas, had withdrawn their request that charges be filed for the injuries to Odessa player Dave Van Drunen.

Van Drunen was injured in an exhibition game against the Colorado Eagles on Saturday.

The Central Hockey League fined and penalized players and coaches from both organizations. Eagles forward Brad MacMillan was suspended 22 games for attempting to injure a player.

The Jackalopes were fined an undisclosed amount for not completing the game.
