GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) Shane Doan and Mike Stone scored in the final 4 1/2 minutes of the second period, Mike Smith made 34 saves and the Arizona Coyotes beat the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1 on Saturday night.

The loss prevented the Flyers from moving into sole possession of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Philadelphia remained tied with the Detroit Red Wings, who lost to Pittsburgh 7-2 earlier in the day.

Sean Couturier scored the Flyers' goal with 40 seconds remaining.

Doan scored on a power play with 4:23 left in the second period. Stone's goal, from just outside the faceoff circle, came with under a second left in the second period. Philadelphia coach Dave Hakstol challenged that it was goalie interference, but the goal stood after a replay review.
