Colorado goalie Craig Anderson left the Avalanche's game Wednesday night against Vancouver after the first period because of a groin injury.

Anderson was making just his second start after missing 10 games with a knee injury sustained during warm ups for an Oct. 26 game in Vancouver. He was beaten once on seven shots in the first period, and was sitting on the bench as Peter Budaj took over to start the second.

Budaj went 6-3-1 while Anderson, who last season set franchise records for games (71), minutes (2,233) and saves (2,047) while going 38-25-7, was out with the knee injury.

The Avalanche also lost defenseman Adam Foote to a leg injury late in the first period. The Colorado captain had to be helped off the ice after taking a hit from Jeff Tambellini in the final minute of the period. The team said he wouldn't return to the game.
