College hockey teams take to the ice in show of support for Denna Laing

More than a week has passed since Boston Pride forward Denna Laing crashed head-first into the boards at the Women's Winter Classic, and there has been no update on her condition other than she is still hospitalized at Massachusetts General Hospital and her family wishes for privacy at this time.

Women's college hockey players have found a way to pay tribute in the interim to Laing, a former Princeton University women's hockey player and two-year captain for the Tigers. A slew of women's teams took to the ice and arranged themselves into a 14 -- Laing's number -- to show they stand behind her as she continues to recover.

The trend appeared to start with St. Lawrence University.

It then took off and has made its way through programs across multiple conferences in collegiate women's hockey.

Earlier in the week, a GoFundMe page started by Harvard hockey player Sydney Daniels raised more than $40,000 for medical expenses for Laing before the family asked for it to be shut down while they work to figure out how best to set up trust funds to support Laing.
