ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews is sitting out his first game of the season with an upper-body injury.

Toews is a scratch for the Blackhawks' traditional Black Friday visit to the Anaheim Ducks.

Toews was hurt during Chicago's game at San Jose on Wednesday. He is questionable for the Blackhawks' visit to Los Angeles on Saturday.

The three-time Stanley Cup champion has four goals and eight assists this season.

Rookie Vincent Hinostroza took Toews' spot in the lineup, centering a line with Marian Hossa and Ryan Hartman.

Chicago leads the Western Conference but has lost on the first two stops of its four-game West Coast road trip.
