Chicago Blackhawks Morning Links- Happy Veterans Day
Good morning Chicago Blackhawks fans! This is one of those days that you should stop and think about all the sacrifices many have given for our great country, and stop and thank a Veteran today!
The Chicago Blackhawks history is one that is based on Veterans, and if you have read this blog for the last four years you know that history and thanking veterans is a big deal for me.
The Chicago Blackhawks were founded by Frederic McLaughlin who was a businessman who had fought in World War I. During the first Great War, McLaughlin fought in the 333rd Machine Gun Battalion of the 86th Division of the United States Army. The members of this division called themselves Black Hawks in honor of the Sauk Indian chief who fought with the British during the War of 1812.
McLaughlin chose that nickname as the name of his franchise and as the story goes his wife sewed the first Black Hawk logos on the sweaters before their first contests.
That being said, I want to say Thank you to all the Veterans out there for their service, and that you are our real heroes for serving and protecting our great country.
On to the Chicago Blackhawks who will take their 7 game winning streak onto the ice at the United Center when the Washington Capitals visit Chicago, and the question for me is are the Hawks this good, is the NHL really not that good this season, or is this just a nice streak at the beginning of the season.
The nice thing about the Hawks streak is that it comes right before the circus trip with the Hawks having only tonight and Sunday’s game at the United Center before they hit the road for the rest of November. We should know a lot about this team when the calendar turns to December.
Here are some morning links to kick off your Veteran’s Day!
