Canucks' Daniel Sedin out with back spasms

Vancouver left wing Daniel Sedin sat out the Canucks' game against the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night because of back spasms.

Sedin didn't participate in practice Wednesday with the Northwest Division-leading Canucks, and the club decided shortly before game time to keep him out of the lineup. He had played in every game since Nov. 22 alongside his brother, NHL scoring leader Henrik Sedin.

Daniel Sedin has 76 points in 58 games this season with a plus-35 rating. He also has eight game-winning goals, second-most in the NHL.

Pavol Demitra replaced Sedin in Vancouver's lineup against the Kings. Demitra had missed the Canucks' last four games to spend time with his ailing wife.
