Buffalo Sabres Game Day: Sabres Look To Douse The Flames

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

The Buffalo Sabres are in the midst of a four-game homestand, and may be getting a key player back in the lineup soon.

The Buffalo Sabres are currently 1-1-0 on their current four-game homestand, and will look to go above .500 when they host the Calgary Flames at the KeyBank Center tonight.

Fans monitoring the team’s social media might have hoped the Sabres would get a boost in the form of Ryan O’Reilly, who participated in this morning’s skate:

However, O’Reilly will not be in the lineup tonight.  Here’s what coach Dan Bylsma had to say about the return of ROR (courtesy of Sabres.com):

We’d all like him to play.  He wanted to play in the Pittsburgh game and I wanted him to play in the Pittsburgh game but he’s still progressing back to full health and the injury is such that it’s a high-area injury and he’ll use it every second he’s on the ice.

So, drats.

But surely the way Anders Nilsson played against the Pittsburgh Penguins Saturday will earn him the nod, tonight, right?

Errr . . . .

Just so you know: I am not the only Buffalo Sabres fan who disagrees with this decision:

Enough said.  Here are my Three Ways To Not Blow The Game for your Buffalo Sabres!

1. Start Anders Nilsson

2. Start Anders Nilsson

3. Start Anders Nilsson

That simple enough for ya?!?

I wish I could be more creative, but seriously: as injured as the Buffalo Sabres are, they need to ride the hot goaltender as long as they can if they want to steal a few wins.  Rolling out Lehner is a questionable decision at best . . . but what the hell do I know?  Go Sabres!
