Buffalo Sabres Fan Chatter #5: Sabres VS Philadelphia Flyers

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

The Buffalo Sabres resume the business of playing hockey, so we resume the business of making picks!

They’re back!  The Buffalo Sabres, of course!

He’s back!  Radko Gudas, that POS!

So this ought to be interesting, right?

The Buffalo Sabres square off against the Philadelphia Flyers tonight in the Wells Fargo Arena, just in time to see Gudas return after serving a six-game suspension following his late hit on Boston’s Austin Czarnik.   When informed about Gudas’ return, coach Dan Bylsma commented, “We’ve made note.”  (Shout out to John Vogel of The Buffalo News)

Apparently, the Sabres still remember this punk move by Gudas last season:

Kudos to Jake McCabe for stepping up and taking care of business, and I’m glad the team still hates Gudas with the intensity of a million burning suns.  Lord knows the Sabres need some sort of a fire under their collective asses if they want to win tonight.

Now, how about I get around to what we are all here for: the picks!

If you’ve never done this before, I present five topics for tonight’s game.  You make predictions for each topic, and we have a little fun on the side as we watch the Buffalo Sabres.  Congrats to reader Allen for making me look silly in the Sabres-Canucks thread!

Here are the questions for tonight:

1. Evidently, there is still bad blood, at least on the Sabres’ side.  How many penalties do the two teams combine for (closest answer wins)?  (10 pts.)

2. Who scores the first goal for the Sabres?  (5 pts.)

3.  Predict how many points Reinhart finishes with (zero is an option).  (10 pts.)

4. How many minutes worth of penalties does Gudas take tonight (closest to actual total wins)?  (5 pts.)

5. Who wins tonight?  (10 pts.)

Spread the word – the more Buffalo Sabres fans we get involved in the comments, the more fun this is, and the bigger the bragging rights!  Go Sabres!
