Bruins winger Milan Lucic jumps to Tom Brady's defense
The Boston sports world turned out for a charity ping-pong tournament hosted by Patriots defensive end Rob Ninkovich, and the hottest topic of discussion obviously centered around Tom Brady's suspension by the NFL for his role in Deflategate.
Bruins winger Milan Lucic was in attendance for the event, and he defended the popular New England quarterback.
"As far as Deflategate goes, personally I don’t even know what a fully pumped-up football is supposed to feel like, so I can’t comment on much, but at the end of the day, if you look at it as a whole, they scored most of their points in in the second half, so say what you want,” Lucic told the Boston Herald. “In my mind [Brady is] still one of, if not the best quarterback of all time, one of the best ... in football history."
The Patriots were accused of using deflated footballs in the first half of their 45-7 win over the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship game. The Patriots scored 17 points in the first half before tacking on 28 more points when their balls were properly inflated in the second half.
