Bruins' Seidenberg out eight weeks after tendon surgery

Boston Bruins defenseman Dennis Seidenberg is likely done for the season after having surgery on his left forearm to repair a lacerated tendon.

The team said Seidenberg had the surgery on Tuesday at Newton-Wellesley Hospital and will be out for eight weeks. He was injured during the first period of the Bruins' 2-1 overtime win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.

Seidenberg came to the Bruins in a March 30 trade with the Florida Panthers. He has two goals and seven assists in 17 games with the team. He has four goals and 28 assists overall this season and leads the NHL in blocked shots with 215.

The Bruins were in the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with three regular-season games remaining.
