Blue Jackets name captains

The Columbus Blue Jackets have announced the alternate captains who will assist Rick Nash during the 2011-12 season.

Left wing R.J. Umberger will continue to serve as an alternate captain, with center Antoine Vermette, center Jeff Carter and defenseman James Wisniewski rotating as the other alternate.

Coach Scott Arniel announced the captains on Friday before the team opened its season at home against Nashville.
