Blackhawks place LW Versteeg (hand) on long-term injured list

The Chicago Blackhawks have placed forward Kris Versteeg on the long-term injury list because of a left hand injury.

The left winger was hit in the hand by a shot during the Winter Classic at Washington on New Year's Day. Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said then that Versteeg would be out about a month.

Versteeg has nine goals and 18 assists in 34 games this season.

Also on Sunday, the Blackhawks say they have recalled forward Dennis Rasmussen from Rockford of the American Hockey League.
