Benn's status updated for training camp following hip surgery
Jamie Benn led the NHL in scoring last season, but he did it all with a bad hip which required surgery following the season. If a sub-par hip can't slow Benn down, however, it looks like hip surgery will not have a huge impact on Benn either.
"I'm feeling pretty good," Benn told the Dallas Morning News this week. "I had my best skate [Wednesday]. We're still going to take it slow throughout camp, but I'm definitely going to take part in the first day. I'll be out there for the first game, and I'm definitely looking forward to it."
Dallas GM Jim Nill told the Dallas Morning News that Benn probably will not participate too heavily in exhibition games, but all signs indicate that Benn should be ready to go full-tilt by Opening Day on Oct. 8.
Benn played in all 82 games for the Stars last season and finished the year with 35 goals, good for second on the team behind Tyler Seguin, and a league-best 87 points.
