Avs D Scott Hannan out with head injury

Avalanche defenseman Scott Hannan has left Colorado's game against the Los Angeles Kings because of a head injury.

The team says he will not return.

The Avalanche were already down a defenseman with captain Adam Foote sitting out the contest after sustaining a head injury against San Jose on Thursday night.

Hannan took Foote's spot alongside Kyle Cumiskey. It was unclear how Hannan was injured.
