The Colorado Avalanche have signed forward Mark Olver to an entry-level contract.

He will report to Colorado's American Hockey League affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters.

Olver had 19 goals and 30 assists in 40 games as a junior this season for Northern Michigan to help it advance to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1999. He also was one of 10 finalists for the Hobey Baker Award for the college hockey player of the year.

Colorado selected him in the fifth round of the 2008 NHL draft.
