WR Cayleb Jones added to Minnesota Vikings practice squad

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 10:23 p.m. ET

The Minnesota Vikings have made a transaction to fill the empty spot on their practice squad by signing first-year wide receiver Cayleb Jones.

It has been an interesting season when it comes to the Minnesota Vikings practice squad. Because of injuries on the main roster, several guys who were waiting for a chance in that unit got called up to the 53-man roster this year.

Whenever that happens, a spot opens up on the practice squad and the team can search for another young, talented player to bring in and evaluate. The most recent player signed to the squad is wide receiver Cayleb Jones, who was announced with a deal on Wednesday, December 28, 2016.

Here is how the Minnesota Vikings describe Cayleb Jones in their announcement of the transaction on their official website:

In just two seasons at Arizona, Jones finished with the 10th-most receiving yards (1,923) in Wildcats history. He ranks in the top 15 in school history in receptions (tied for 10th with 128) and touchdowns (12th with 14).”
