Wilkerson hasn't decided if he will attend minicamp

Published Jun. 4, 2015 9:10 p.m. ET

New York Jets defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson has been seeking a new contract this offseason as his rookie deal expires after the 2015 season. As a result, Wilkerson has not attended any of the team's OTAs so far this offseason. Technically, that isn't a problem because the OTAs are voluntary. However, next week starts the team's mandatory sessions.

With that in mind, would Wilkerson continue his holdout and miss the mandatory sessions as well? According to the New York Post early on Thursday, Wilkerson was going to end his holdout and attend the mandatory practices that start next week.

However, Wilkerson's agent Chad Wiestling disputed that report. "We have yet to decide whether to attend or not," Wiestling wrote in an email to NJ Advance Media Thursday afternoon.

If Wilkerson were to miss all of the mandatory OTAs next week, he would accumulate a fine of more than $72,000.
