Week 4 Madden Simulation Predicts Washington Redskins Loss
The Washington Redskins are projected to lose in a Week 4 Madden Simulation. Should Redskins fans be worried about the prediction?
Last week, App Trigger ran a Madden simulation that predicted the Washington Redskins would defeat the New York Giants in a close contest. This week, their simulation is predicting a result that does not favor the Redskins quite as much. In this Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns, App Trigger’s Daniel George ran a simulation that predict the Browns will come out on top by a score of 21-17.
Needless to say, this type of loss would be absolutely crushing to the Redskins. The team needs to be able to move to .500 this week in order to keep pace in the NFC East. If they cannot do that, then they will end up putting too much pressure on themselves down the stretch. That would hurt them in the playoff race.
According to the simulation, the main problem in this game is going to be turnovers for the Redskins. The team is projected to lead 14-3 at the half, but the Browns are supposedly going to be able to make a huge comeback. Part of this is because they are going to have three takeaways. This includes a critical pick six that will shift the momentum of the game.
The other major part of the simulation is the projected performance of Matt Jones. Jones is going to total a lot of yards, but he also is going to be prone to mistakes. George outlined this further in his piece about the simulation:
Matt Jones was the man of contrasts in this game, rushing for an impressive 98 yards on 22 plays, but also fumbled the ball twice. When you’re down by a touchdown and your team needs to rely on you to punch it into the end zone, a fumble recovered by the defense is all it takes to remove the wind out of your sails.
It is easy to see something like this happening on Sunday. The Browns are not as bad as people think they are, and the Redskins could have trouble stopping their rushing attack. The Browns have to keep themselves in the game into the fourth quarter. If they can do that, then they may be able to pull off a late score to clinch the upset. While I still think that the Redskins will end up winning the game, this simulation could end up being accurate.
