St. Louis Rams rookie Todd Gurley continued his stirring rookie season in Sunday's 27-6 win against the San Francisco 49ers, shattering the league record for the most rushing yards by a player in his first four starts in the Super Bowl era.

The No. 10 overall draft pick out of Georgia quickly closed in on the record by breaking free for a 71-yard touchdown run in the second quarter to put the Rams ahead 10-3. It was Gurley's third touchdown run in two games and gave him a league-best four runs of at least 45 yards.

Gurley burst through a gaping hole and went untouched on his scoring run, easily outracing the defense on his way to a 98-yard first half. He went over 100 yards early in the third quarter to join Hall of Famers Eric Dickerson and Jerome Bettis as the only Rams rookies with four consecutive 100-yard efforts.
