Washington Redskins Notch Signature Win Over Minnesota Vikings
It was not an easy road, but the Washington Redskins got a win in their first game since returning from the bye week. They defeated the Minnesota Vikings in their crucial home game.
Well, if we were looking for a signature win for the Washington Redskins, I think we found one. The team played a hard fought battle on Sunday afternoon against the Vikings, and they ended up coming out on top. The Redskins won by a final score of 26-20, and they did it by beating the Vikings’ strong defense.
Kirk Cousins put together a relatively strong performance on Sunday afternoon. Cousins 22-of-33 for 262 yards and two touchdowns early in the game. He got the Redskins off on the right foot, leading them on a couple of touchdown drives to take a 14-0 lead. Cousins looked strong during the contest and it appears that he will be in top form for the rest of the season.

On the ground, Robert Kelley has really rejuvenated the Redskins. The undrafted rookie carried the load for the second straight week, and he got 22 carries in this contest He turned them into 97 yards and got better as the game went along. Given the strength of the Vikings defensive line, this was a very impressive performance by Kelley. He should continue to be at the top of the depth chart, especially if Matt Jones continues to be inactive.
One of the best players of the day on defense today was Preston Smith. The young pass rusher had been quiet in the first half of the season, but he was huge in this game. He totaled two sacks, and a critical pass deflection interception that swung the momentum in favor of the Skins. One of his sacks came at the end of regulation too, and that ended the game for the team.
Moving forward, this will be a win that Jay Gruden and the Redskins can point to and say that it was big. Though the Vikings have been struggling as of late, they still have an elite defense and the Redskins managed to breakthrough that. They are now 5-3-1 and they will have a chance to really compete for a wild card berth.
