Vernon Davis discusses foundation, how art impacts his life

Vernon Davis is a man of many pursuits and talents.

He's appeared on "Whose Line Is It Anyway?"; he's launched his own company focusing on interior design; he created his own foundation that provides scholarships for art students.

Davis sat down with 49ers.com to discuss his foundation and where he found his inspiration for starting it. The tight end revealed he studied artists like Picasso, Michelangelo and Leonardo Di Vinci while in college, and how he sees his foundation growing in the next year or two, among other things.

"Growing up in the community that I grew up in, Washington D.C., it was tough to pursue your dreams," Davis said, via 49ers.com. "And my dream in my heart was always to pursue the arts. But I couldn’t do it because of my environment. I had to refrain because in order to be cool you had to play football or basketball. So I went on, got into college and finally felt like I was free. I could do whatever I wanted to do. So I changed my major from criminal justice to art studio and never looked back. I just kept running with it, and I’m still very passionate about it."
