Tomlinson has sprained MCL

Published Nov. 14, 2011 12:00 a.m. ET

New York Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson has a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee and his status for the team's game at Denver on Thursday night is uncertain.

Tomlinson, sixth on the NFL's career rushing list, was injured late in the Jets' 37-16 loss to New England on Sunday night. He did not practice Tuesday, but still hopes to play against the Broncos. He adds that if he can't go in that game, he'll definitely be ready for the Jets' game against Buffalo on Nov. 27.

Coach Rex Ryan says Brodney Pool, who missed the game against the Patriots, will not play Thursday because of a sprained left knee. Wide receivers Jeremy Kerley (left knee) and Patrick Turner (kidney) also did not practice.
