Tom Brady misses preseason start after reportedly cutting his thumb with scissors
Tom Brady was scheduled to make his preseason debut for the Patriots on Thursday night against the Chicago Bears. But when the New England quarterback was mysteriously absent from pregame warmups and then seen leaving the stadium prior to the game, things appeared to take an unusual turn. It would have been impossible to guess just how strange, though.
As first reported by Tom Curran of CSNNE, Brady cut his right thumb with a pair of scissors, requiring him to seek medical assistance and miss his scheduled start. According to the report, Brady was trying to pry something from underneath his cleat as he was getting ready to take the field.
It's unclear the extent of Brady's injury or if he will miss any time, but Brady's agent Don Yee said that the quarterback will "be okay in time."
It's been somewhat of a rough preseason for Brady up to this point. He missed the team's first preseason game while attending the memorial service of a family member, and he'll miss the first four games of the regular season while serving his suspension for the Deflategate saga.
