Tom Brady admits Darrelle Revis has 'intimate knowledge' of Patriots
The highlight game of Week 7 is a divisional matchup between the New England Patriots and New York Jets with first place in the AFC East on the line. As they did for years in the past, Tom Brady will go up against Darrelle Revis, one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL.
Of course, Revis won a Super Bowl with the Patriots last season, so he is relatively familiar with New England's ways. In fact, Brady would go a step further and say Revis has "intimate knowledge."
"He’s got, obviously, an intimate knowledge of how we do things," Brady said, via Phil Perry of CSNNE. "And kind of the skill set of our players and our formations, and vice versa. I know how he likes to play things. His play style is very similar to what it’s always been."
Revis has picked off three passes already this season, and recovered three fumbles. Like everyone else, Brady is impressed with the start he's gotten off to this season.
"He’s a phenomenal player," Brady said. "Some of those players you play against where you go, ‘God, how did they know it was going to be this route, or that?’ Sometimes they just know by what they see, or their instincts, or feel, by the way the receiver walks to the line of scrimmage, the way the right tackle looks in his stance. I don’t know what he’s looking at, but he diagnoses plays and routes. He’s off to a great start this year."
While Brady was quick to say Revis is familiar with what the Patriots do, Bill Belichick was more reluctant to say the same.
“What we know, we know. What they know, they know," Belichick said. "It comes up every week. There are always players on our team or other teams that have been in other organizations. We’ve played against them, or they’ve been with us, whatever it is."
The Jets' new-look secondary will be the Patriots' toughest test thus far. With Revis, Antonio Cromartie, Marcus Gilchrist, and Calvin Pryor all on the backend, it won't be easy sledding for Brady.
