Todd Bowles reacts to Colon's comments about Geno

New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith has been the center of attention the last couple of weeks. First, it was offensive coordinator Chan Gailey saying that Geno Smith was the starter for Week 1 of the regular season. Then head coach Todd Bowles clarified Gailey's statement by saying there would be a quarterback competition in traiing camp and it is Geno's spot to lose.

On Tuesday, New York Jets guard Willie Colon had some interesting thoughts about Geno Smith starting at quarterback in 2013 and what is expected of him heading into this season.

That brings the Geno saga to Wednesday, where Todd Bowles addressed Colon's comments on SiriusXM's NFL Radio.

"I've heard it, but I don't have ... Something about keys to the Porsche and don't crash it. I don't know what kind of car we have yet. We're still building it. There's a lot of parts to be determined in that. It was probably just a figure of speech, knowing Willie."

Bowles continued by responding to a question pertaining to if he was ok with these sort of comments by his players.

"My personal feeling, if you don't have nothing good to say about a teammate, you don't say it. There's pressure on everybody. We're in this business to win. Geno is one of 22 guys starting. Everybody at every position has the same type of pressure."

Smith enters his third season in the NFL and has had two rocky years so far. Some consider it a make-or-break year for the quarterback, especially with all the additions on offense that the front office has made this offseason.
