Titans rookie Poutasi adjusting to move to guard

After losing his spot as the Tennessee Titans starting right tackle, rookie Jeremiah Poutasi is making the transition to guard.

Poutasi, the Titans' 2015 third-round pick, started seven games before being replaced in the lineup by Byron Bell prior to the team's win against the New Orleans Saints.

Since then, he's been practicing at left guard, but said despite the benching and position switch, he hasn't been discouraged.

“My confidence is very high right now,’’ Poutasi said, per the team's official website. “I still have confidence in myself, and know what I can do. I have people believing in me, and I believe in myself. As far as confidence, I feel if I had to go in at right tackle and if I have to go in at guard, I’ll play well at either.”

The 6-foot-5, 335-pound Poutasi, who played both left and right tackle in college at Utah, added that he's enjoyed the move inside to guard thus far, saying it feels 'more natural.'

Meanwhile, he waits for his next opportunity to get back on the field. Poutasi, who was inactive for the first time in his brief career last Sunday against the Oakland Raiders, said he's taking a patient approach.

“It is a humbling experience, but there is nothing wrong with learning more than what you know. It is part of my role,’’ Poutasi said. “Obviously I want to get in there and play, but the right time will come when I get in there. My role right now is to make sure I know everything and if something happens I know what to do.”
