Titans place RB Johnson on reserve list

Published Aug. 29, 2011 1:00 a.m. ET

The Tennessee Titans have placed Chris Johnson on the reserve/did not report list while cutting nine players to trim the roster to 80.

The administrative move has no impact on contract talks with Johnson, who met with the Titans last week but remains a holdout.

The Titans open the season Sept. 11 at Jacksonville and trimmed their roster Monday, a day before the NFL deadline.

The Titans also cut defensive tackle Jovan Haye, who started 15 games for Tennessee in 2009. But Sen'Derrick Marks returned recently from shoulder surgery, and the Titans also like rookie tackles Karl Klug and Zach Clayton.

Tennessee also waived linebacker Jonathan Cornell, punter Chad Cunningham, fullback Patrick Hills, linebacker Kevin Malast, quarterback Brett Ratliff, safety Nick Schommer, receiver Owen Spencer and long snapper John Stokes.
