The Raiders' playoff hopes took a hard, hard hit on Sunday
This week could end up explaining why the Raiders missed out on their 13th straight playoff field.
All because they couldn't top a two-win Detroit Lions team playing for nothing but pride.
They're now third in the AFC West, behind the leading Broncos (8-2) and the surging Chiefs (5-5). And at 4-6, the team is two games behind the AFC Wild Card-leading Steelers (6-4) and at least one game behind other competing squads.
There are four teams ahead of the Raiders in the race for the AFC's sixth seed -- including the Jets, a team they thoroughly trounced. But that win feels like it happened so long ago.
Oakland could've used a stockpile of wins for a cold December. Instead, they'll fight for their playoff lives against the Chiefs, Broncos, and Packers (7-2) to start December.
