Terrell Owens leaves with knee injury

Cincinnati Bengals starting wide receiver Terrell Owens came into today's game against the visiting Cleveland Browns listed as questionable after aggravating an already injured left knee.

He wound up leaving the game in the first quarter and the Bengals announced he will not return.

Owens, 37, was limited in practice last week because of the knee but started and played in the Bengals' opening series. He began limping after running a long pass route on Cincinnati's sixth play.

The Bengals dressed five receivers for the game plus PR Quan Cosby, but a serious knee injury to Owens will be costly.

While he has been fairly inconsistent this season, Owens broke through with a monster game in a 23-20 loss in Cleveland earlier in Week 4, catching 10 passes for 222 yards -- the second-highest total of his career. In doing so, Owens became the oldest receiver in NFL history to have 200 yards receiving.

Owens has played in 44 consecutive games. The last game he missed was the final game of the 2007 season with the Dallas Cowboys.
