Terrell Owens eligible for ' 16, hints LA Rams should sign him

Published Feb. 7, 2016 4:09 p.m. ET

Terrell Owens learned he wouldn't become a first-ballot Hall of Famer on Saturday night.

That fact makes him eligible for the 2016 season -- something the 42-year-old former receiver pointed out shortly after.

The Rams haven't had a wide receiver eclipse the 1,000-yard mark since 2007, when Torry Holt caught 93 passes for 1,189 yards and seven touchdowns. Since then, the team has spent six top-100 picks (Tavon Austin, Stedman Bailey, Brian Quick, Austin Pettis, Mardy Gilyard and Donnie Avery) on the position.

Though Owens doesn't have the same type of big-play ability he once did, he has raised the issue of the Rams' serious need at the position.

Owens hasn't played in the NFL in nearly four seasons, but clearly he hasn't lost any confidence.
