Tebow on Kaepernick protest: 'It's all about standing for it in the right way'

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

After his second day of practice with the New York Mets organization, Tim Tebow weighed in on 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s decision to protest during the national anthem, suggesting there might be a better time for it.

“When people have belief in something, or a conviction in something, trying to stand for that is a good thing,” Tebow said, according to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale. “Its all about standing for it the right way.”

The comments from Tebow come after a weekend in which more NFL players chose to kneel for the playing of the anthem prior to games.

Kaepernick initially started the protest during the preseason, concerned with racial equality and police violence.
