Take a good look at Kansas City's streamlined offensive line

Andy Reid had nothing to lose when he took an axe to the Chiefs' offensive line depth chart.

His gambit payed off. The front five delivered a dominating performance for the first time in six games.

"The thing I saw, and again, it wasn't all pretty, but the effort there was, and the ability to set a tempo, I thought was raised from what it was before," Reid told reporters. "And I've said this from day one: that's where it starts on the offensive side."

Reid finally changed things up in Week 7. Right tackle Eric Fisher reclaimed his old left tackle job. Raw blocking prospect Laurent Duvernay-Tardif got the nod at right guard. Next to him, former starter Jeff Allen made an appearance at right tackle.

The group allowed pressure, but clicked overall, especially in the running game. Charcandrick West went for 110 yards on 22 carries.

For now, Reid will take that marginal improvement over the steady decline of his previous five.

"I liked the way the guys handled themselves," he said. "Are there things we can get better at? Yeah, we've got to keep improving there, but the effort definitely was there."
