T.J. Houshmandzadeh joins Bengals staff as coaching intern
Former Bengals receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh is looking to break into the coaching ranks, and he's taking a path that's very familiar to Marvin Lewis.
Houshmandzadeh, who caught 507 passes in seven years with Cincinnati, is participating in the Bill Walsh Minority Coaching Fellowship program. He'll spend the next two weeks with the Bengals along with fellow interns Keith Rucker, also a former Bengal, Chuck Smith, and Kelvin Bell.
Houshmandzadeh could certainly mpart some wisdom on A.J. Green, Marvin Jones, Mohamed Sanu and the rest of the receiving corps. Houshmandzadeh still holds the franchise record for catches with 112, set in 2007.
Lewis himself is a product of the Bill Walsh Fellowship, having broken into the league with the 49ers and Chiefs.
"As always, we are happy to have these guys with us in the Bill Walsh program," Lewis said in a statement via the Cincinnati Enquirer. "This program helped me get ahead as a coach, and it's great to see it continue as strong as it is. It's a good experience for our full-time coaches as well as the interns."
