Super Bowl Sunday – For NFL and Green Bay Packers fans, it’s one of the most highly-anticipated and most celebrated days of the entire year. It’s a day of pure enjoyment, even if you’re favorite team isn’t in the big game.

And because of that, we continue our series looking at the Green Bay Packers today – and all of the Super bowls in which this team has been a participant.

As we officially head into the offseason once more after the clock ticks down to zero on today’s Super Bowl LI, the confetti settles to the ground, and all the platitudes are given, we will once again turn our eyes to “next year.” Of course before that, we will enjoy the Combine, Free Agency, the Draft, the OTAs, and training camp.

However, before we get to all that, we’ve got to enjoy this Super Bowl Sunday.

Vince Lombardi’s Last Super Bowl Speech

This is former player Jerry’s Kramer’s audio recording of Vince Lombardi’s last pre-game speech to the Green Bay Packers, before Super Bowl II, January 14, 1968. The Packers defeated the Oakland Raiders 33-14 in Miami, FL. After this game, Lombardi retired from coaching for one year while continuing to manage the Packer. He then left to coach the Washington Redskins in 1969, but died September 3, 1970. R.I.P. Coach Lombardi.

Recap of the 1967 season, followed by the Super Bowl II game summary. Super Bowl II was played on January 14, 1968 at the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida with 75,546 people in attendance. Coming into this game, like during the first Super Bowl, many sports writers and fans believed that any team in the NFL was vastly superior to any club in the AFL. The Packers, the defending Super Bowl I champions, posted a 9-4-1 record during the 1967 NFL season before defeating the Dallas Cowboys, 21-17, in the 1967 NFL Championship Game (also popularly known as the Ice Bowl). The Raiders finished the 1967 AFL season at 13-1, and defeated the Houston Oilers, 40-7, in the 1967 AFL Championship Game.
