Super Bowl countdown moment No. 5: Mike Jones makes 'The Tackle'

BY foxsports • February 1, 2016

As we count down to Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, Calif., it's time to look back on the magical and memorable moments in the 49 previous Super Bowls. FOX Sports senior NFL writer Alex Marvez has ranked the 50 greatest moments in the big game's big history, and every weekday from now until Feb. 7 we'll unveil the latest addition to our countdown. Today, we look back at moment No. 5, when the Rams' defense saved the day.

The 1999 Tennessee Titans will always be remembered for being one yard away from forcing overtime in the franchise's first Super Bowl.

The Titans had driven to the St. Louis 10-yard line with six seconds remaining when wide receiver Kevin Dyson caught a Steve McNair pass and charged toward the end zone.

Rams linebacker Mike Jones read the play, changed his coverage and wrapped himself around Dyson, whose subsequent attempt to stick the football across the goal-line fell just inches short.

Time expired and the Rams captured their first Lombardi Trophy.

Here are highlights from Super Bowl XXXIV.

Final score: St. Louis 23, Tennessee 16
