Suge Knight hopes Mayweather will play his $10M bail
By NESN Staff
Suge Knight is in jail while he awaits trial for murder, but he’s hoping he won’t be there for long.
The Death Row Records co-founder and former CEO had a follow-up arraignment Thursday in Los Angeles, where he’s accused of killing local businessman Terry Carter in a hit-and-run. Knight received a July 7 trial date, but he believes a friend will pay his $10 million bail this weekend.
And that friend is Floyd Mayweather.
“My understanding is that Suge is going to be bailed out this coming week,” lawyer Matthew Fletcher told the New York Daily News. “We think Mr. Mayweather is going to win the championship and then come champion the day again. They’re good friends, and there’s no reason he shouldn’t. And we believe that will happen.”
While Mayweather is expected to take home around $150 million — win or lose — after his bout with Manny Pacquiao on Saturday, the boxer reportedly is worth $280 million already. But apparently Mayweather needs a little extra cash before he can fork over $10 million.
