Stephen Curry Wears Raiders Jersey After Losing Bet (Photo)
Noted Carolina Panthers fan and Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry was forced to wear an Oakland Raiders jersey following the Week 12 matchup.
While Stephen Curry may play basketball in Oakland for the Golden State Warriors, he’s always gone to Carolina in his mind. A Charlotte native who attended college in the area, Curry has been a vocal fan of the Carolina Panthers in the public eye. So when the Panthers came to o.Co Coliseum in Week 12 to face the Oakland Raiders, he was in attendance and feeling confident in his favorite team. Perhaps a little too confident.
Apparently Curry made a bet with a Raiders fan in his box with simple terms—at least on one side. If Oakland were to hold court at home and win, the point guard would have to don a Raiders jersey. Though we don’t know, we have to assume the opposite was the same for the other party.
However, we don’t know the other terms because the Raiders were able to pick up a huge win. After almost collapsing in the second half and falling behind by eight points, they rebounded with clutch fourth-quarter play and then a huge defensive stop to get the three-point win.
So naturally, Curry didn’t waste any time in ponying up for the bet (H/T For The Win):

That’s such a look of shame on his face, even if it’s one league’s MVP potentially wearing a future MVP’s jersey. While Curry wasn’t a fan of his new duds, though, the Raiders indeed were:

When it comes to the NBA, obviously Curry bleeds gold and blue. However, I doubt the Oakland area is ever going to get him to bleed for the Silver and Black.
That said, good on the reigning NBA MVP for not welching on the bet and paying up immediately. It takes a big man to do the immediately following a tough loss by your favorite team. He took it in stride. And on the bright side, it was probably a little less painful than watching Super Bowl 50 live as the Panthers were dismantled. Maybe Curry should just steer clear of Carolina playing AFC West teams. Just a thought.
