The Pittsburgh Steelers have taken Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones in the fourth round of the NFL draft.

Jones passed for 16,646 yards in four seasons with the Sooners, the third-highest total in major college football history. Jones is the highest quarterback taken by the Steelers since the team selected Ben Roethlisberger in the first round of the 2004 draft.

To get Jones, the Steelers gave the Dolphins a 2014 third round pick for Miami's pick in fourth round this year.

The 24-year-old Jones passed for 123 touchdowns during his collegiate career. He says he expects to be a starter one day but understands the No. 1 spot belongs to Roethlisberger.

Jones will compete with veteran Bruce Gradkowski for the top backup spot behind Roethlisberger.
