Steelers' Harrison, Goodell meet

Steelers linebacker James Harrison has met with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to discuss the league's stricter policy on dangerous hits.

The meeting was held Tuesday in New York, during a day off for Steelers players.

Harrison had briefly threatened to retire after he was fined $75,000 by the league for his hit on Browns wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi on Oct. 17.

The session with Goodell was not an appeal of Harrison's fine. The appeal will be heard Nov. 9.

Harrison also could be fined by the league for a late hit Sunday on Saints quarterback Drew Brees that was penalized. He was not penalized for the helmet hit on Massaquoi.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette first reported the Harrison-Goodell meeting.
