GENEVA (AP) The younger brother of Alpine skier Lara Gut is leaving the Switzerland team to race for neighboring Liechtenstein.

The Swiss ski federation says Ian Gut wants to find new impetus in his career after several seasons in the lower ranks of the national team.

The 23-year-old Gut represented Switzerland at the 2012 Youth Winter Olympics but never raced on the World Cup circuit. He already has a passport from Liechtenstein, a principality of about 37,000 people.

Liechtenstein sent two Alpine skiers to this year's Pyeongchang Olympics. Tina Weirather won a bronze medal in super-G, edging Lara Gut off the podium by 0.01 seconds.

Its best men's skier, Marco Pfiffner, entered four Olympic races and had a best finish of 25th in slalom.
