Sanchez: Jets 'lost some of our identity'
Mark Sanchez says the Jets ''lost some of our identity'' on offense last season, and insists the rift between him and wide receiver Santonio Holmes has been smoothed over.
Sanchez, speaking Thursday night before being honored by the Randall's Island Sports Foundation in Manhattan, says Brian Schottenheimer's offense struggled after New York became enamored of its receiving corps and got away from a run-first approach.
Holmes also had criticized Sanchez, who says the two have met and he knows ''it can work between us. It's not a question of `if.'''
The Jets signed Sanchez to a three-year contract extension last week, despite many fans calling for them to pursue Peyton Manning. Sanchez says criticism ''comes with the territory,'' and the adversity last season ''honestly was a good experience for our team.''
