Saints take DT Jenkins after trade with Dolphins
New Orleans has sent two fourth-round draft picks to Miami in exchange for the Dolphins' 82nd overall choice in the third round, which the Saints used to select Georgia defensive tackle John Jenkins.
The deal came right after the Saints had traded reserve running back to the New York Jets for the Jets' fourth-round pick, which the Saints then packaged with their own fourth round pick in the deal with Miami.
The addition of the 6-foot-4, 346-pound Jenkins bolsters a defense that appeared to need help after giving up an NFL single-season record 7,042 yards last season.
Jenkins was the second defensive player taken by the Saints, joining first-rounder Kenny Vaccaro at 15th overall.
New Orleans used its other third-round choice, 75th overall, on offensive tackle Terron Armstead.
