METAIRIE, La. (AP) Saints general manager Mickey Loomis says rookie safety Vonn Bell, whom New Orleans selected in the second round of this year's NFL draft, has signed a four-year contract.
Bell was the Saints' latter of two second-round picks, taken 61st overall out of Ohio State.
The 5-foot-11 inch, 199-pound Bell was a consensus All-American and Jim Thorpe Award semifinalist last season.
He played three seasons for the Buckeyes, compiling 176 tackles, a sack, nine interceptions, 24 passes defended and two fumble recoveries during his career.
Earlier this week, New Orleans signed its first-round pick, defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins; its second-round pick, receiver Michael Thomas; and seventh-round choice, running back Daniel Lasco.
Of New Orleans' five 2016 draft picks, only defensive tackle David Onyemata, a fifth-round pick, remains unsigned.
