Saints RB Ingram out a month with hand injury

Published Sep. 15, 2014 12:57 p.m. ET

New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram will miss a month of action after sustaining a hand injury, FOX Sports 1's NFL insider Mike Garafolo reports, citing a source.

Ingram, who sustained the injury in Sunday's 26-24 loss against the Cleveland Browns, was off to a great start in his fourth season with the Saints.

Averaging six yards a carry, Ingram has been one of the offense's bright spots, gaining 143 yards on 24 carries with three touchdowns.

Entering the final year of his rookie deal, Ingram has looked quick-footed and much more lean than he has in his previous three seasons.

Selected in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft, Ingram was sidelined five games with a nagging toe injury last season.
